"Mass trauma is created by humans": A generational influence
December 2024
I spent a month researching and writing this piece, including earning a trauma-informed interviewer certification to engage with refugee sources responsibly. By taking on a controversial topic, I learned to critically evaluate both human sources and deep archival records to support informed, productive discourse. This was the start of my interest in social and education policy, and it was my first article to include a content warning.

“All students need to feel safe:” PAUSD to protect students amid ICE raid fears"
March 2025
For this co-written story, I attended several school board meetings, interviewed families, and surveyed teachers for a semi-investigative piece on how well the district was serving those most affected.

When potential social and legal repercussions arose for undocumented sources, I led the decision to prioritize ethical reporting, later authoring our newsroom’s first source-ethics manual. The investigation earned a regional Race and Diversity award, and the handbook is now used by 44 high schools across California.

Tackling escalating homelessness rates in the Bay Area
September 2025
As my first long-form investigative piece for The Oracle, this story taught me how to extensively analyze and clearly translate court documents, build a convincing argument, and craft sensitive, disparate experiences into a single story.

I found that my school's community service center struggled to combat turnover and a pause in service when students graduate.
